One must always practice good hygiene in the kingdoms and beyond. You never know what you might pick up when traveling around. It was common practice to burn entire villages if one was suspected to have contracted a tainted disease or plague simple because of the unknown factor it bought. The tainted are all individual and so the task of trying to conjure up an antidote was fairly pointless.
